● Remove the old asphalt court, 104’ east to west, and 65’ north and south. The angled asphalt sidewalk that is heading away from the court to the northwest will remain; this shall be saw cut to separate from the remaining portion to be demolished. ● The existing poles, backboards and rims will be replaced; they shall be removed at demo. The district will scrap any of the metal from said demolitions. ● The sub-base for the court will be prepared/leveled by the contracting company; it shall be to standards for an exterior concrete pad meant for athletic activity. ● The court area itself will be poured to a 4’ depth, with the perimeter edging poured to 6”. The contractor can use their experience to determine the width of the edge, but we are suggesting a minimum of 6” wide. ● Industry standards are acceptable for the concrete mix, but the mix shall not be less than 3000psi. Rebar or steel mesh should be used for reinforcement of the slab. Expansion joints should be cut to help avoid cracking of the slab. ● The surface shall be finished with a light to light/medium broom finish. ● Once forms are removed, fill shall be brought in to make sure there is not a drop off between the court and the surrounding ground. The new court should be laid even with the concrete sidewalk to the north. Grass seed shall be dropped in restored areas on the east, south and west. ● New poles will be available when the slab is poured so that the contractor can set those at the same time as the slab is poured. The two poles to the south and one to the east will be at the edge of the slab. The pole on the west side will be located in the ‘field’. Please refer to the layout mat on the previous/second page.
