The contractor shall provide a temporary Solid Waste Refuse Packer for the City. The Solid Waste Refuse Packer position includes collecting refuse and recycling materials for transport to appropriate facilities. Solid Waste Refuse Packers shall ride/stand on the rear of the refuse/recycling trucks visiting approximately 800 homes daily for the collection of refuse/recycling. Collection of refuse/recycling is done through manually lifting refuse/recycling and placing materials in the back of a refuse/reycling truck. Additionally, the position may be required to help with the collection of special pickups (large bulky items, etc.) and white good collection. Temporary personnel filling the Solid Waste Refuse Packer position shall be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Additionally, they shall be able to feel attributes of objects, grasp, push, stand, walk, reach with hands/arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb/balance, and move up and down from/to a sitting position on the floor. Regular attendance shall be maintained and it is highly beneficial that the temporary personnel have a general knowledge regarding safety standards and precautions. The contractor shall understand and agree that Solid Waste Refuse Packers will be exposed to a multitude of hazards, including at a minimum: a. Moving parts on machinery; b. Unknown chemicals/substances; c. Pokes/cuts from needles, glass, nails, screws, knives, etc.; d. Traffic; e. Inclement and hazardous weather; f. Repetitive movement; and g. Stains and sprains.
