Denton Municipal Electric, henceforth DME or the buyer, is municipally owned, making them the hometown electric power provider. Since 1905, DME has maintained a highquality service for the greater Denton area. Currently, DME provides electric service to over 68,000 residential, industrial, and commercial customers with distribution system peak of 415 MVA. Currently, DME utilizes the following within its 108 square miles of transmission and distribution electric network: 109 feeders in service 16 substations in service ~357 miles overhead distribution lines ~557 miles underground distribution lines ~67 miles transmission lines ~33 DME miles ~34 TMPA (Texas Municipal Power Agency) miles 158 distribution feeder breakers 1,475 distribution switch devices 2. Objective The City of Denton is solicitating proposals from qualified firms to provide a GIS solution for electric utilities, which leverages ESRI’s ArcGIS Utility Network platform to provide a comprehensive set of tools for managing and visualizing electrical infrastructure data, including power lines, transformers, and substations, within a map-centric interface. The RFP process seeks to provide the best overall solution for Denton Municipal Electric. The total cost of ownership will not be the only factor in making the determination. Other factors that may contribute to the selection process include but are not limited to: Project approach and understanding the City’s needs. Ability to meet the City’s requirements (software functionality, usability, performance, flexibility, integration, and technology). Implementation methodology, timeline, and successes. Ability to meet the City’s implementation timeframe. Qualifications and experience providing GIS solutions similar to DME.
