The selected proposer will be responsible for the management and operation of Visit Emporia, including but not limited to: a. Administration i. Develop and execute a strategic tourism and marketing plan for the Emporia community. ii. Manage financial operations including budgeting, grant application, and financial reporting. iii. Maintain a database of local tourism partners, attractions, and hospitality businesses. iv. Provide annual reports to the City of Emporia detailing visitor statistics, marketing effectiveness, and economic impact. v. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding tourism promotion and business operations. b. Marketing and Promotion i. Develop and implement advertising campaigns to promote Emporia as a travel destination. ii. Maintain and update the Visit Emporia website and social media platforms in alignment with best practices for digital marketing and promotions. iii. Create and distribute promotional materials, including visitor guides, brochures, and digital content. iv. Engage in public relations efforts to attract media coverage and external partnerships. v. Collaborate with various stakeholders to effectively showcase and promote the story of Emporia, including but not limited to: 1. City of Emporia Government 2. Lyon County Government 3. Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce 4. Emporia Main Street 5. Regional Development Association 6. Emporia State University 7. Flint Hills Technical College 8. Unified School District #253 9. Newman Regional Hospital 10. Retailers c. Event and Convention Support i. Work with event organizers to attract and support conventions, sporting events, and festivals. ii. Assist with event logistics, venue recommendations, and related marketing support. iii. Coordinate with local businesses and stakeholders to maximize the economic impact of major events. d. Visitor Services i. Operate a visitor center providing information, maps, and recommendations to tourists. ii. Train and manage staff to offer excellent customer service to visitors and residents. iii. Develop initiatives to encourage extended stays and repeat visits. e. Economic and Tourism Development i. Develop and support new attractions, experiences, and initiatives that enhance Emporia’s appeal as a destination. ii. Collaborate with local businesses, hotels, and restaurants to enhance the visitor experience. iii. Conduct market research and data analysis to inform strategic decision-making. iv. Identify and advocate for infrastructure improvements and beautification projects that support tourism growth. v. Partner with local businesses and organizations to create unique visitor experiences, such as cultural events, outdoor recreation opportunities, and historical tours.
