The Connecticut DEEP Division of Forestry is soliciting quotes for a drainage improvement project on 5,400 linear feet of Mount Easter Road from its southern terminus on West Cornwall Road north to its intersection with Pine Swamp Road. The goal of the project is to install new/upgrade existing drainage infrastructure to prevent erosion of the road and maintain its utility. 1000 tons of gravel will already have been spread to improve the surface of the road – only drainage infrastructure is needed in this phase. Broad-based dips are the preferred drainage structure in most spots requiring improvement due to their low maintenance requirements. 16 locations for broad-based dips were identified by the State’s monitoring forester in the planning of this project. Additionally, 7 culverts will be needed at various points on the road. A map showing the location of the project and proposed locations for drainage structures is attached to this ITB, as well as a shapefile with the proposed locations of broad-based dips and culverts. DEEP is seeking quotes from qualified contractors to install/repair the necessary drainage structures on this section of Mount Easter Road.
