The project shall generally consist of: Remove existing wall coatings. As pressure washing may not be enough, additional surface prep may be required to allow proper adhesion of new materials. Whether to remove loose flecks of existing coating or complete removal down to bare masonry will be determined during the Feb. 20, 2025 walkthrough and confirmed via addendum #1. Coating recommendations to be made post-walkthrough and final selection (determined by the District) to be included in addendum #1; Repoint the existing masonry. Existing wall has visible cracks in the mortar. A to-be-determined depth of mortar to be removed. Joints to be repacked with fresh mortar. Since the wall is designed with stacked bond CMU, with joints struck flush (not concave) this makes the repointing difficult. Repointed mortar to have concave joints. The wall is panelized with precast concrete bricks to create the large panel appearance. Mortar on wide horizontal joints to be built up to assist with water flow off the edge; Recoat the entire wall with a high build coating system. If the new coating is to go over the existing coating (i.e. - the existing coating is not removed completely down to bare masonry), then the compatibility of the two materials must be confirmed by contractor and submitted to the District; Proper disposal of all debris and materials removed.
