HMA APPLICATION ESTIMATE The yield for the proposed HMA, 5EML (Top Course) is 165 pounds per square yard. The yield for the proposed HMA, 4EML (Base Course) is 220 pounds per square yard. The yield for the proposed HMA, 5EML (HMA Approach) is 385 pounds per square yard. The Asphaltic Cement for the mixture shall be performance grade 64-28. The Bond Coat Material shall be SS-1h. The application rate shall be 0.05 to 0.15 gallons per square yard as directed the Engineer. The Bond Coat shall not be a pay item. The Aggregate Wear Index (AWI) number required for the aggregate used in production of the HMA mixture used in the wearing course of the traveled way shall be 260 minimum. Number of Rollers Method shall apply as a minimum requirement for this project. The Nuclear Gauge Method for testing may be used at the discretion of the Engineer. The Target Air Void percentage shall be 3.5% for all leveling and top course HMA on this project.
