2. All Contractors who apply herbicide, fungicide or insecticide (not allowed in watershed areas – see note) shall be licensed by the State Agricultural Department of Energy & Environmental Protection Agency, as appropriate. Any applications of these products will be initiated and approved by Groton Utilities before application. Watershed areas include land that drains to the drinking water supply as well as streams and reservoirs. These are highest priority for protection of drinking water supply. 3. Material being used by Contractors must be environmentally green (organic or OMRI listed) and approved before use. 4. The general appearance of the grounds shall be maintained in a neat orderly condition. All debris shall be removed by contractor before mowing (litter, loose stones, limbs, leaves and cans etc.). 5. Established lawn areas shall be maintained between a minimum cutting height of 2” and a maximum growing height of 3 ½” (exceptions being, a. stone spillway to Smith Lake; mowed/trimmed upon reaching 10” height and b. written change request by Groton Utilities) with all edges, buildings, walkways and fencing trimmed after each mowing. Raking and pickup may be required to maintain a neat appearance. Dam grass (bank areas only) shall be cut with acceptable equipment for 30-degree, 2:1 ratio slopes (Ledyard Reservoir Dam, Morgan Dam and Billings Avery Diversion Channel) at/prior to reaching height of ten (10) inches and cut to a height no lower than 4”. Slopes to be cut without depositing ruts or gouges. Slopes cut and clippings removed. Bank/slope areas of thirty (30 degrees): • Ledyard Reservoir Dam, • Morgan Reservoir Dam, both faces of, and • The extents of both slopes of the Billings-Avery Diversion Channel 6. Poquonnock Reservoir Spillway phragmites (reeds) to be cut and removed at end of season, every year. This work to be coordinated with Water Representative. 7. All sidewalks, parking areas, and driveways shall be edged and swept or (leaf-blown): a wellmaintained look should prevail. At the Operations Complex, Stockrooms’ pole and equipment stock-yard, rear parking areas around HVAC units, electrical transformer(s) and utility poles in/near front parking areas to be cleared of weeds, brush and vines.
