Annual Residential Testing Location and quantities of backflow devices will be identified by City staff. Pre-notify residents of testing schedule through postcards or some sort of mailing. Schedule appointments to meet residents’ needs. Provide a door hanger with contact information for scheduling if residents are not home. Two onsite attempts to test assembly are required. If no contact is made after two attempts, the City will test that assembly. Conduct an annual test on all compliant residential backflow preventers (approximately 2,500) during the irrigation season. Conduct annual or first test for all new assemblies installed or found in the system. This may require several hundred additional tests throughout the irrigation season. Provide basic onsite cleaning if the initial test fails and the failure can be corrected by cleaning. Enter testing information and results on the South Jordan City Elements software. This will require all testers to have proper training and access to a laptop or ipad. Notify the City of failed tests and incorrect installations within 24 hours of discovery by contractor. Notify the City of illegal cross-connections or any other potential hazard to the water system immediately upon discovery by contractor. City Facility Backflow Preventer Testing. Provide an individual copy of test results for each assembly. Notify the City of failed tests, illegal cross-connections, incorrect installations, or any other potential hazard to the water system. Notify the City of failed tests and incorrect installations within 24 hours of discovery by contractor. Notify the City of illegal cross-connections or any other potential hazard to the water system immediately upon discovery by contractor. Provide the City Water Division with annual test kit calibration documentation for all test kits used. Provide the City Water Division with a copy of each tester’s current certification. Any other duties or requirements needed to ensure satisfactory completion of the City’s aforementioned testing goals. Have staff available to receive and return phone calls to residents no less than 40 hours per week, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Schedule and meet with City staff on a monthly basis to coordinate and report performance of tasks. Complete all inspection data entry, including: Identified residential testing. City-owned backflows located in commercial vaults. City-owned backflows. All commercial backflows tested. All inspections and testing results will be entered during time of inspection using a tablet (e.g. iPad) while accessing the City’s backflow program software. Tablets require a data connection to accomplish this. Contractor will supply tablet devices and network connections.
