13. The Contractor shall mow all turf areas as necessary to maintain a turf height of 2 ½” - 3" every 7-10 days. The Contractor shall perform work in such a manner that removal of grass clippings is not necessary. If grass clippings create unsightly conditions, the Contractor shall remove the clippings and dispose of them off-site at the Contractor's expense. 14. The Contractor may be asked to increase the number of mowings when certain weather conditions promote turf growth. 15. The Contractor shall use a line-trimming unit for all areas inaccessible to mowers. This may include, but is not limited to the following: around the base of trees and plantings, site fixtures, fences, walls, curb barriers and playground areas. Line trimming shall be performed in a manner that cuts the grass blade approximately the same height as mower operations. 16. The Contractor shall pick up and dispose of all litter, paper, small debris, glass, metal, rock, asphalt, fallen limbs, branches, etc. The Contractor shall notify the Village of Morton if there is an unusual amount of trash or debris within specific areas. The Contractor shall coordinate with the Village of Morton for disposal of the aforementioned in Village owned dumpsters. 17. The Contractor shall be required to correct any unsatisfactory work at the Contractor's expense. A call and/or written notice shall be sent pointing out the specific deficiencies and providing a reasonable time for taking corrective action. If that does not result in satisfactory improvement, or after three such incidents requiring the Contractor to be notified of unsatisfactory work, the contract may be terminated by sending a written notice of termination at least seven days prior to the effective date. 18. The Contractor shall maintain all mowing equipment in proper condition with special attention given to maintaining sharp mower blades to prevent a knocked down or ragged cut appearance. The Contractor shall not mow when grass is extremely wet. 19. The Contractor shall perform all mowing operations in such a manner to prevent damage to the turf, nearby trees, shrubs, ground cover, structures, site fixtures, parked vehicles and the public. The Contractor shall be liable for any and all damages to adjacent properties due to the negligence of the Contractor's employees. 20. The Contractor shall leave all adjacent areas, whether paved or landscaped, in good condition. Care shall be taken to prevent discharge of grass clippings on to any paved surface. Any clippings should be removed from paved surfaces. 21. Herbicides such as round-up shall not be used for this Contract unless approval is given by the Village of Morton. In such instances, the Contractor’s applicators shall have the appropriate applicator’s license. 22. Appropriate traffic control devices including signs and cones shall be set up when a Contractor’s vehicle/trailer/equipment is parked or used in any public right-of-way or on a public street or parking lot. This is includes “Mowing Ahead” signage and high-visibility clothing/cones.
