The project’s main purpose is to address existing Kreutzer Road’s geometric deficiencies associated with a series of three horizontal curves near the at-grade Union Pacific Railroad and waterway crossing and to provide continuity with existing Kreutzer Roadway corridor. The proposed project consists in general the following features to improve Kreutzer Road from IL 47 to Haligus Road, a distance of approximately 6,500': • Widening and resurfacing of Kreutzer Road between the above-mentioned limits. • Widening of the two-lane rural roadway to a three-lane urban cross-section with curb & gutter. • New storm sewer drainage system. • A major realignment of the roadway at the Union Pacific Railroad with a new atgrade crossing and the installation of triple precast box culverts at the adjacent Tributary A to the South Branch Kishwaukee River. • The addition of a multi-use path along the north side of Kreutzer Road. • The addition of roadway lighting along the north side of Kreutzer Road. • Dry utility communication and coordination for impacted facilities relating to these improvements.
