The Nature Trails Park Forest Restoration 2025/2026 Project goals are to improve the urban forest with removal or control of the existing invasive vegetation and to replant with native vegetation in zones B2 and B3. Please refer to the 'December 2016 Nature Trails Park Management Plan' on the City of Normandy Park website for details about the urban forestry improvements. • 15 work crew days of active restoration in zones B2, and B3 consists of approximately 2 acres. This part of the scope is to be performed and completed by June 25, 2025. • Review of previous contractor work in zone B1 to determine if the site needs to be revisited with respect to removal of invasive species and adding shrubs and trees • Plant material will consist of 100 1-gallon native conifer trees and 100 native shrubs installed where ivy was removed to accelerate regeneration of the forest canopy. Please plan to purchase these • One page update future work plan for zone C, D and A due at the end of the project. • Ground ivy, tree ivy, and invasive plant material will be removed from the site utilizing work crews using basic hand tools, power tools as needed or other specialized equipment. The selected firm will assist the City of Normandy Park in reviewing the current Nature Trails Park Urban Forestry Management Plan. The selected firm will be responsible for the following: • Review work performed by city staff and previous contractors in zone B. • Review of the December 2016 Nature Trails Park Management Plan. • Survey and evaluate the existing condition of Nature Trails Park. • Supply a crew lead, and work crew with transportation to and from the project site, basic hand tools along with access to power tools and other specialized equipment. • Permits, application, and safety equipment for invasive plant control, but not for broad spraying, only spot treating or injecting as needed. A Washington State Licensed Herbicide Applicator shall be onsite. • Work crew site lead must be trained for, or willing to train for, Inadvertent Discovery of Cultural Resources • Creating a planting plan and removal of noxious weeds to create space for 100 conifers and 100 shrubs to be planted. • Volunteer event management: 1 volunteer event is to be scheduled for planting trees and/or invasive plant removal. The firm will assist with volunteer recruitment and management, and provide tools, gloves, and refreshments during the event. This volunteer event will happen in the fall of 2025 in Phase 2. • Training and education in ecological restoration best management practices, ecology leadership and community outreach. • Provide Project Management and oversight of forestry management operations.
