The City of Rockford is seeking bids for contractors to perform repair and inspection services for City of Rockford owned fire sprinkler systems. In order to meet state licensure requirements, automatic fire sprinkler systems are required to be inspected, tested and maintained in accordance with NFPA 25, Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems. 4.1 Fire Sprinkler System Repairer Services/Pipefitter Unit Prices: The following are specifications to provide the City of Rockford fire sprinkler system repair services at an hourly rate for service, repairs, maintenance and troubleshooting problems of fire sprinkler systems at City of Rockford facilities. No additional fees will be added on to invoices such as mileage, delivery fees, vehicle rental fees or other hidden fees; only labor and parts. 4.1.1 Journeyman: The technician shall be knowledgeable with all Building Code requirements regarding fire sprinkler systems and shall do work meeting all governing codes. 4.1.2 Apprentice: Must have prior approval of the City of Rockford representative before using an apprentice on any project. If an apprentice technician is working on a job, the hourly rate charged will be the apprentice rate quoted in this bid, according to the helper’s pay rate in the apprentice program pay scale. 4.1.3 Hourly Rate: The unit price for fire sprinkler system repairs is the hourly rate per man per hour to perform the work as directed by the City of Rockford representative. Hourly rate is to include all wages, benefits, vehicles, tools, and any other equipment necessary to perform the work. No additional amount will be allowed. 4.1.4 Phone Response Time: Contractor shall provide the City of Rockford with a verbal communication response within thirty (30) minutes of initial contact from the City of Rockford personnel. 4.1.5 Routine Service Response Time: Response time for routine repairs will be within eight (8) business hours after receipt of call from the City of Rockford. 4.1.6 Emergency Service Response Time: Emergency service response will be within one (1) hour after call from the City of Rockford, on either a regular or overtime basis. The vendor must have technicians on-site performing repairs within one (1) hour after the call is received from the City of Rockford.
