In 2011, the City entered into an agreement with the Department for the acceptance of STP-DA funding for the construction of 2,800 linear feet of greenway along Brushy Fork Creek from Reynolds Park Road to Lowery Street, including a pedestrian culvert under the Norfolk Southern Railroad, and boardwalks. Some preliminary environmental and flood studies have been performed. This work will include but will not be limited to hydraulic design, location surveys, erosion control plans and permitting, preparation of construction contract proposal and estimates, and utility coordination. This project is at approximately 50% design completion. The selected firm will need to take the existing design and complete drainage, erosion control, erosion control permitting; and finalize plans, quantities, and contract special provisions per Federal/NCDOT standards. The construction contractor will provide culvert and pedestrian boardwalk plans. Brushy Fork Greenway is being partially funded with Federal Funds which pass through NCDOT. Experience and thorough understanding of the FHWA and NCDOT requirements is essential. This project must adhere to all Federal and State of North Carolina standards.
