• Activity 1: Educate Clinicians on Best Practices for Treating Acute, Subacute, and Chronic Pain • Task 1: Develop trainings on managing acute, subacute, and chronic pain in line with the CDC Clinical Practice Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Pain – United States, 2022. Topics should include best practices for opioid prescribing and guidance on weighing efficacy and caution when prescribing opioids. Provide post-training written guidance on common technical assistance (TA) elements discussed in the trainings (e.g., robust handout). • Task 2: Conduct the trainings developed in Task 1 through workgroups, partner organizations, blog posts, social media, and other relevant teaching and communication modalities. This can include conference presentations and state and regional quality improvement and substance use disorder-focused events. • Activity 2: Train Clinicians on Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and Stimulant Use Disorders (StUDs) • Task 1: Develop trainings on combatting stigma and on culturally- and trauma-informed modalities of screening and diagnosis of SUDS: OUD AND STUDSs, focusing on OUD and StUDs, for clinicians across a range of specialties. Provide post-training written guidance on common TA elements discussed in the trainings (e.g., robust handout). • Task 2: Conduct the trainings created in Task 1 to various local clinical teams embedded in different healthcare settings. Conduct outreach to individual teams in various clinical settings (clinics, hospitals, community health centers, etc.) and conduct training focusing on drawing out the team’s concerns and barriers to screening and diagnosis. Use this information to create customized TA and follow up with the site within 90 days of the first training to conduct the customized TA. Track any changes in clinical practice attributed to the trainings and TA. • Activity 3: Provide Technical Assistance to Clinical Providers • Task 1: The contracted party will respond and provide Technical Assistance to any clinical providers that reach out. This may include responding to questions from clinicians that have attended trainings or general inquiries about pain management and SUDS: OUD AND STUDS treatment from clinicians.
