a) Railroad Track Design - These services include but are not limited to preliminary engineering, alternatives analysis, feasibility studies, operating plan development, final engineering, geometric designs, contour grading, earth retaining systems, project management, value engineering, risk analyses, cost estimating, specifications writing, and the development of final construction plans for heavy rail track, light rail track and related facilities on the region’s transit system. Detailed knowledge of Federal Transit Administration (FTA), American Railway Engineering and Maintenance Association (AREMA), California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) standards and procedures is required. b) Transit and Railroad Station Design - These services include but are not limited to preliminary engineering, alternatives analysis, feasibility studies, operating plan development, final engineering, geometric designs, transportation facility design, transit station design, programming, planning, pre-construction documentation (plans, specifications, engineering estimate), demolition planning, seismic analysis and design, structures design, contour grading, earth retaining systems, project management, value engineering, and risk analysis. Detailed knowledge of Federal Transit Administration (FTA) standards and procedures is required. c) Transit and Railroad Systems Engineering Design – These services include but are not limited to designing transit and railroad signaling, communications (i.e., analog and digital), Positive Train Control (PTC), computer networking, system operation and optimization, ticket vending, visual messaging, substation supervisory control and data acquisition, electrical system upgrades, switch machine rehabilitation and replacement. d) Transit and Railroad Train Signaling Design – These services include but are not limited to designing rail transit and railroad signal facilities, including wayside and grade crossing protection equipment and train-to-wayside communications. Detailed knowledge of American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA), FRA, and CPUC requirements is required.
