Smith County is seeking qualified vendors to assist in the development of a comprehensive Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) for the county and its participating jurisdictions. This plan will identify and assess the natural hazards that pose risks to the county and provide strategies to reduce the potential for damage to life, property, and critical infrastructure. The selected vendor will be expected to utilize both the existing 2018 Hazard Mitigation Plan and the current draft of the updated plan as foundational documents. In addition, the vendor must follow the guidelines and criteria outlined in FEMA’s Local Mitigation Plan Review Tool to ensure compliance with federal standards, which is necessary for eligibility in the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance program. This HMP will also support future federal and state funding opportunities aimed at reducing risks within the county.
