Approximately (+/-) 5000 cubic yards will be delivered and installed at several locations at different times throughout the contract period. The awarded contractor will be responsible for storing the material. Deliveries will consist of (+/-) 50 loads at 100 cubic yards per load. Deliveries will begin after July 01, 2025. These loads shall be delivered and installed at specified spots requested through a purchase order by the Department of Plant Services. Material Specifications A. The surface material shall be made of 100% natural engineered wood fiber and produced with no chemical additives or contaminants. B. A two-pound sample of the product must be included with the quote submittal. C. Documentation for the following specifications must be supplied with the submittal sample: 1. The product must have been tested as a force-reducing material meeting all current ASTM (F1292-93) specifications and by ASTM method F355-86. 2. The impact from a much-protected surface shall not allow “G Forces” to exceed 200 at a fall of not more than eleven feet. The depth of the material should be 12”. 3. The evaluation of the materials shall have been made in hot, ambient, and frozen temperatures, wet and dry conditions. D. The mulch should be easily installed with an ordinary rake to level out the high and low spots, or in some instances a small loader. Once properly spread, the surface material must make the playground compliant with all pertinent ADA standards. Documentation of compliance with ADA standards must be supplied.
