Georgia Academy for the Blind cottage renovation and academic expansion project includes renovations to the residential cottage #5 (8,855 GSF), #7 (7,916 GSF), and #8 (5,331 GSF) and expansion of the Hendrix academic building (15,000 GSF) on the campus for Georgia Academy for the Blind in Macon, GA. This project will provide adequate, safe, and attractive space for students to spend time in the cottages when not attending classes. The renovation and repurposing of the space will include restroom upgrades, painting, lighting upgrades and the repurposing of hallways, dorm rooms, and upgrades to the Commons Area. The renovation will also address ADA code compliance within the building. The project also includes plans to expand the academic building (Hendricks) on the campus. This expansion will consolidate the academic programs for the campus under one roof. This project will replace the existing academic cottages (D1, D2, D3, D4) that are outdated and undersized to provide adequate, safe, and attractive space for students. This project includes approximately 15,000 GSF. The expansion will include 8 multi-functional classroom spaces within class storage, restroom and laundry access, 4 multifunctional break areas, and office space.
