This project generally includes modifications to the DNA amplification lab and storage areas located within the Forensic Sciences Building. The work in the DNA amplification lab includes the removal of an existing wall, with associated utilities, to increase volume of amplification lab space for reduced congestion around equipment. Additionally, room finishes will be refreshed or replaced as necessary to create a more suitable environment for the room’s purpose. Then the existing file storage room (Room 116) will be refreshed with new flooring for the replacement of an existing track mounted file storage system with new compact mobile file storage. Also, two existing storage rooms located on the lower level (Rooms B59/B60) will be combined into one room with associated HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and security upgrades to accommodate secured, climate-controlled long-term storage.
