1.2 PUPOSE Anne Arundel County Public Schools is committed to the development of a Curriculum that prepares our students to be College and Career Ready global graduates in the 21st Century. The purpose of the Curriculum is to ensure the alignment between local, state, and national standards to assessments and instructional practices. To ensure all students access to standards-based curriculum, it is essential that we embed the elements of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Differentiated Instruction (DI) in the instructional design and delivery of the curriculum. UDL and DI principles and strategies will allow all students to have an equitable opportunity to perform at the required levels established by the standards. Additionally, the curriculum documents will help all educators to deliver consistently and intentionally, monitor, assess, and evaluate teaching and learning in all classrooms. AACPS is requesting submissions from established publishers to provide AACPS with evidence-based, researched, and reviewed high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) for evaluation for the Curriculum Aligned Materials Office (CAMO) in accordance with the instructions, terms, and specifications contained herein. In the event a single high-quality instructional material (HQIM) does not address standards, AACPS reserves the right to award contract to more than one vendor for a specific course. This may include specialized products which, separately on their own, do not meet all standards but would enhance the selection of course objectives. The final award could include the selection of products or materials from multiple vendors whose products, when packaged together, meet standards. AACPS reserves the unilateral right to evaluate instructional materials based on criteria deemed to be in AACPS’s best interest to deliver a quality product. AACPS hereby reserves the right to evaluate, at AACPS’s sole discretion, the extent to which each deliverable received supports said criteria and how each submission compares to each other. The recommendation of selected materials shall be based on the evaluations using the criteria.
