The Nevada Highway Patrol seeks to partner with a licensed 24/7 phlebotomy service to achieve several key objectives. This partnership aims to enhance public safety by ensuring the timely and accurate collection of blood samples from impaired drivers, thus supporting the reduction of impaired driving incidents across the state. The phlebotomy service will be available around the clock, ensuring prompt response to impaired driving cases at any time. The partnership will ensure compliance with NRS Chapter 484C, particularly the requirement for blood sample collection within two hours of a driver being in physical control of a vehicle. Additionally, the service will provide reliable blood evidence crucial for DUI prosecutions, including cases involving controlled substances and serious incidents. Certified phlebotomists will also be available to offer expert courtroom testimony, strengthening the prosecution’s case. The agreement will streamline operational efficiency, foster collaboration and communication between the Nevada Highway Patrol and the phlebotomy service, and establish consistent, standardized procedures for blood collection.
