PLAYGROUND DESIGN PARAMETERS: The playground is expected to be a minimum of 7,218 sf of rubberized surfacing plus 6,300 sf of wood fiber totaling approximately 13,500 sf of playground area and be wholly contained within the area identified on Exhibit A. Slight variance in size is allowable to accommodate proposed play equipment. TYPES OF EQUIPMENT: This play area should be an innovative ground-based, play structure(s) may include interconnected rope-style climbers and net system with portions appropriate for children 2- 6 5 and 5-12 years of age. No wooden structures will be accepted. All proposals shall include a minimum of two tot swings, two belt swings and one companion swing. CRITERIA: To be considered for this project, equipment included in the proposal must meet the following criteria: A. Equipment must meet all guidelines of the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) and all American Society for Testing and Materials standards for play equipment for public use. The proposal must include signed, written certification of same from the manufacturer or its representative. B. All equipment proposed to be furnished in response to this RFP shall meet the following minimum requirements: 1. Main Upright Platform Posts: (appropriate size requirement) a. Unit designed for all ages will require minimum 3-inch O.D. galvanized steel or aluminum, powder-coated posts or acceptable alternative. b. Swing structure post shall match in similar color and size of main platform post with an arch style framework. 2. Decks/Ramps: a. Vinyl-coated, expanded metal; or vinyl-coated punched steel or aluminum (no plate steel or wooden decks). C. Playground shall include accessible and inclusive design elements suitable for children ranging in ages from 2-5 and 5-12 years of age. D. Playground surfacing shall include ASTM and ADA compliant poured in place rubber surfacing (PIP) using a binder to a color selected rubberized fall material, meeting CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) for a portion of the playground 7,218 square feet. This portion of the playground to be constructed over a PCC slab (PCC slab installed by others). Remaining playground surfacing will be engineered wood fiber installed by the owner E. All equipment furnished under this proposal shall be designed and constructed in such a way that the equipment can be installed with conventional, poured-in-place concrete footings. F. Ropes and netting components are allowed that meet CPSC design standard. No wood or fiberglass materials. G. Climbing rungs, protrusions, or grasping parts shall be constructed of rotationally molded polyethylene materials with ultraviolet light stabilizers and color molded in. H. Prices shall include the total cost of the playground component piece(s), including delivery and cost for installation of equipment. Play equipment may be temporarily stored at this site prior to installation. Prices shall apply through February 19, 2025, when ordering will be complete.
