a. Moore Hall is located within the Southwest Residential Area of campus. The buildings are bounded by North University Drive to the west and Southwest Circle to the north. The project laydown area shall be located on the western end of the adjacent parking lot. The contractor shall be responsible for providing temporary water service to the building throughout the duration of the project. UMASS will provide a location on site for the temporary water connection. The contractor shall plan on suppling a minimum of 500 feet of hose for the temporary water services. b. The project consists of replacing the utility piping and supporting frames within the existing utility tunnels at the Moore Residential Hall. Utilities include the following: 1) Domestic water (cold, hot and recirculated hot water). 2) Fire protection. 3) Hydronic heating (supply, return). c. The replacement of the utility piping and associated work outlined in the Construction Drawings shall be constructed to meet all requirements of the Massachusetts State Building Code, current edition, in addition to all other applicable codes and regulations. d. The existing utility pipes and their supporting frames shall be fully demolished within the tunnel up to the first fitting above the first-floor penetration. Removed elements shall be replaced with new utility piping, support frames, anchors, and guides as indicated in the Construction Drawings and Technical Specifications. All new hot- and cold-water piping, fittings, anchors, and guides shall be insulated per the Technical Specifications. e. New floor access hatches for the tunnel shall be installed as indicated in the Construction Drawings.
