The project initiator may evaluate consultant bids and rates before awarding work based on King County procurement and contracting rules. The requesting department may request additional information from the potential candidates on their approach to the project and availability. The project initiator and the selected consultant will negotiate a final scope of work for the work order. The final scope of work may include elements such as refining project objectives or tasks, finalizing the schedule, identifying deliverables and milestones, identifying and developing follow-up tasks, and developing methods for evaluating the success of the services rendered and the project. King County may utilize the same consultant throughout the life of a specific project. Thus, the consultant should expect to provide available resources as the need arises for follow-up tasks throughout the project. A work order will be issued only if an agreement is reached.
