Layout of Work: 1. Engage a Civil Engineer/Surveyor to Layout the Work using accepted surveying practices and be responsible for all reference points, benchmarks, lines, elevations, and measurements required for Work under this Contract. 2. Reference points: a. Locate existing permanent benchmarks, control points, and similar reference points before beginning the work. b. Do not change or relocate existing benchmarks or control points without approval of the Architect. c. Replace lost or destroyed permanent benchmarks and control points. Base replacements on the original survey control points. 3. Benchmarks: a. Establish and maintain a minimum of two (2) permanent benchmarks on the project site, referenced to data established by survey control points. b. Where the actual location or elevation of layout points cannot be marked, provide temporary reference points sufficient to locate the Work. c. Use established benchmarks and control points to set lines and levels at each floor of construction and elsewhere as needed to locate each element of the Project
