1. Statement of Work. The project objective is to provide demolition and abatement services as needed to remove Building 12 to slab from the site. The city funding is not unlimited; therefore, the costs and sequencing for site restoration are important considerations. The Contract Drawings attached show the areas that are considered part of this scope and the proposed sequence of work. 1. Mobilize including administrative items such as completion of required forms, notifications, railroad insurance, railroad safety and protection coordination, preparation of a Site-Specific Health & Safety Plan (HASP) and Technical Execution Plan (TEP). Requirements for the HASP and TEP are provided in Specification Section 01 41 50 and Section 02 08 00 1.05 A, respectively. 2. Abate applicable hazardous building materials and demolish the remaining structure of former Building 12 to slab on grade with particular attention on the adjoining building (35 Main Street property) and the adjacent railroad tracks (Metro North commuter line). 3. Facilitate the transportation and off-site disposal of HBM and structural building debris, in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. 4. Restore disturbed areas following demolition to promote safe access and egress at the Site. All steel is considered property of the contractor. Any estimated scrap value should be considered in the bid pricing. Because of the dilapidated condition of the buildings and the distribution of ACM throughout, Alternative Work Practice (AWP) approvals shall be requested by the Contractor from the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH). The Contractor shall follow the requirements and procedures as stated in their approved AWP (to be prepared by Contractor under this Scope of Work) when performing the abatement work. More details are provided in the Scope of Work document attached to this RFP. Each prospective bidder shall attend a mandatory initial site walk. Other visits will be allowed as scheduled by the Engineer or by appointment. The project is funded in part by the State of Connecticut and prevailing wages apply. Invoicing must demonstrate adherence to certified payroll completion.
