The purpose of this contract is for the Contractor to provide new flame-resistant clothing (FRC) personal protective equipment to be issued and replaced for aviation personnel. The State of Alaska, Department of Public Safety (DPS) will use these goods to accomplish the following: protect pilots from potential safety, survival, and cold weather hazards related to flight operations in airplanes and helicopters while conducting core DPS law enforcement missions. A standard layering system is made up of a base layer, mid layer and outer layer. Having multiple layers means you have more control over your temperature. If you’ve only got one layer to wear, you’re more likely to find that you’re either too hot or too cold. While if you have multiple layers, you can add or remove layers as needed to provide more or less warmth, wind proofing or waterproofing as needed. Base layer – not susceptible to melting and is not flammable Flight Suits or the mid-layer top and bottom shall be available in both navy blue and sage green for our commissioned and civilian pilots. We need latitude to change the gear for new technology developed or equipment changes.
