The Maryland Department of Health (MDH or the Department), Office of Children and Youth with Specific Health Care Needs (OCYSHCN), is issuing this Request for Applications (RFA) to provide reminder notifications, education, and follow up documentation of adherence to annual transcranial Doppler (TCD) screenings. Current guidelines recommend that children with sickle cell disease, specifically HbSS and HbSβ0 thalassemia, undergo annual TCD screenings to identify those at high risk for stroke.1 Lack of knowledge and low self-efficacy play a role in compliance with annual TCD screening. 2 1 https://ashpublications.org/bloodadvances/article/4/8/1554/454384/American-Society-of-Hematology-2020-guidelines-for ; 2 Bollinger, L.
