The Housing Authority of the County of Cook (“HACC”) is seeking moving firm(s) to provide resident relocation services for families moving into either the private market, within HACC developments or to a mixed-income unit. The moving requirements are demanding and are to be accomplished by a experienced professional moving companies (hereafter referred to as the “Contractor”), qualified to accomplish the required moves within a given normal working day (may include weekend) as indicated on the moving schedule that will be provided by HACC. The moving schedules will be provided by the HACC’s staff in a timely manner. Emergency moves will be handled on an individual basis. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, moving vehicles, accessory equipment, and all other incidental items to properly execute all of the required moves within the allotted time. The Contractor must be available for up to 100 moves annually and be able to transport resident’s items within 100 miles radius of the City of Chicago; Cook County, and surrounding areas; 1. The Contractor(s) shall comply with the moving schedules upon notification by HACC. Scheduling will be made by HACC at least 24 hours in advance, except in emergency situations. The Contractor must respond within one (1) business day to confirm availability to conduct the work requested. HACC reserves the right to reasonably adjust schedules throughout the term of the contract to coordinate the moves with any ongoing construction and/or unforeseen obstacles. 2. The Contractor shall comply with the move request provided by HACC, including, but not limited to, the size of the moving crew, start time of the move, additional supplies needed, etc. 3. The Contractor shall be responsible for moving all of the resident’s furniture, equipment, materials and supplies. The Contractor shall use acceptable vehicles and relocate to the new dwelling area, with items being placed precisely as described by the resident and/or his/her designated agents. 4. The Contractor shall use standard industry practices while executing a move, including, but not limited to, covering furniture, use of dollies, providing storage, etc. 5. The Contractor shall assume full responsibility and liability for all of a resident’s belongings and materials while in the Contractor’ possession during the move process, including compensation for lost and/or damaged items.
