1. This project involves mowing approximately 150 acres of standing woody vegetation on Halma Swamp and Twin Lakes WMAs. 2. Contractor must mulch or mow all willow, dogwood, young aspen and other brush/tree species up to 6” DBH within the areas outlined on the attached maps. All standing woody vegetation will be mulched or mowed to within 6 inches of ground level throughout the project site. 3. Retain mature and young oak, with a DBH 2” or greater within the project area, as directed by Project Supervisor. No more than 5% damage to reserve young oak species is permitted without the permission of the on-site supervisor which may be granted only in localized areas of unusually difficult conditions. 4. Cut stumps must be less than 6 inches from the ground. 5. Keep all severed brush, branches, etc. as low to the ground as possible, off reserve trees, and at least 20 from all roads and trails. 6. Keep all roads and trails on the site open and not blocked with brush, branches, vehicles or debris resulting from this operation. 7. The basal diameter and stem densities of material very greatly. Certain areas may have scattered or dense stands of brush with stem basal diameters less than 1 inch. 8. Debris will be scattered; debris piles will not be allowed. Uprooting of brush and trees will not be permitted unless otherwise approved in writing by the Project Supervisor. 9. Mowing will occur under sufficiently dry ground conditions as determined by the Project Supervisor. 10. In the event that areas within the project are inaccessible due to moisture or other issues, these areas may be removed from the contract. Replacement acres adjacent to the project site may substituted for cancelled acres if mutually agreeable to the Project Supervisor and the Contractor.
