The Work shall include all labor and equipment necessary to repair, replace, or relocate gate valves or other potable water distribution components. The Work shall include, but not limited to, excavation; removal and disposal of old gate valves; installation of new gate valves; and backfill and compact the excavated trench. The City shall furnish new gate valves, parts and/or bolts, trucking, and backfill material. Newly installed bolts shall be sprayed with an approved automobile undercoating agent after installation and wrap entire valve assembly in plastic. All bolts on the valve shall be replaced, including the bolts that connect the valve to the existing pipe material. All bolts and nuts used for this project shall be stainless steel or “Core Blue” as approved by the Authorized Agent. Each excavation of gate valve may include supplemental work as follows: A. Type A – Street Repair: Removal of bituminous. Replace gate valve and adjust new valve box to within 1/4 inch below top of wear course grade.
