Due to the size of the County’s fleet, and with the interest of saving both time and money, it is the intent of the County to establish an annual contract with firm(s) located in Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda, to provide preventative maintenance services and safety inspections on County-owned vehicles on an “as needed” basis. The Port Charlotte geographical location shall be North of the Peace River and East of the Myakka River. The geographical location for Punta Gorda shall be considered South of the Peace River. The service shall include, but is not limited to: A. Preventative Maintenance Vehicle Service and Safety Inspection for vehicles up to 18,000 pounds including, but not limited to automobiles, trucks, and sport utility vehicles (SUV’s) including gas and diesel engines. Vehicle: • Replace engine oil using 15w40 synthetic blend motor oil for diesel engines (up to 15 quarts) and SAE 10w30 synthetic blend motor oil for gas engines (up to seven (7) quarts) every six (6) months, 5,000 miles or 200 engine hours on diesel powered high idle units, unless otherwise specified by manufacturer. • Install new premium grade oil filter. • Lubricate chassis. • Check air cleaner and condition. Replace, if necessary. • Check all hoses, clamps, belts, tensioner, and lines. • Check radiator level, condition, pressure, leaks, and fill, if necessary.
