Abutment 1: Piles 1, 3, 4, 5 have rotten section loss. Repair: Excavate earth 1’-2” depth by 1’-4” wide by 24’-0” in length. Form and pour 3000 psi concrete footing with (2) 5/8” dia rebar running the length of footing, and ½ dia rebar 1’-0” on center the width. Leave old piles in place. Add new 12” creosote treated timber piles next to old piles from top of concrete footing to bottom of timber cap. Bent 2: Pile 5 needs to be replaced. Repair: Add sister pile with 12” min diameter treated timber pile, form and pour 4’x 4’ x 2’ thick footing. The top of the footing must be at existing ground level. #5 bars 1’-0” on center each way. 3000 psi concrete. New creosote timber sister pile shall extend 1’-0” into concrete footing and have full contact with timber cap. Bent 4: Pile 5 has two rotten section loss areas. Repair: Add sister pile with 12” min diameter treated timber pile, form and pour 4’x 4’ x 2’ thick footing. The top of the footing must be at existing ground level. #5 bars 1’-0” on center each way. 3000 psi concrete. New creosote timber sister pile shall extend 1’-0” into concrete footing and have full contact with timber cap. Bent 5: Cross bracing is rotten and pile 4 is not centered under cap.
