Specifications include, but are not limited to: 00 – Vessel Design The vessel shall be designed and bult to commercial workboat standards. The hull structure shall be designed to meet an acceptable regulatory structural standard such as DNV, ABS or Lloyds Register. The aluminum hull shall have reinforced heavy bottom plate in the forward region to enable icebreaking capabilities. The vessel shall be easily serviced and maintained and shall be designed to be easily hauled on a trailer. 01 – Structure The vessels hull and superstructure shall be designed and built from 5000 series aluminum plate and 6000 series aluminum extrusions. All material specifications shall be confirmed with the shipyard prior to contract signing and start of construction. A typical longitudinal heavy girder structure with transverse framing shall be utilized. Reinforcements at the bow and stern shall be provided and integrated into the hull structure for pushing operations. Ice belt reinforcements shall also be provided for light ice-breaking capability. 02 – Mechanical Propulsion shall be a traditional shaft and propeller, straight shaft arrangement powered by a single diesel engine with a reversing reduction gearbox. • Main Engine: 270HP – Volvo Penta D4, US EPA Tier 3, Commercial Duty diesel with direct coupled reversing reduction gears • Propellers and shafts shall be integrated into a full skeg for protection from debris and ice. • A Duramax Mechanical Face Seal (Dripless) shaft seal shall be provided • Exhaust shall be led above the pilothouse in a dry system with a cylindrical silencer and rain cap. Double wall dry exhaust piping shall be provided. • Engine cooling shall be accomplished via integrated half-pipe keel coolers welded to the shell plate (no seawater pump or seawater cooled heat exchanger shall be provided with the main engine) • A 120VAC Block Heater shall be provided and wired to the Shore Power panel • Traditional hydraulic rudder steering system with manual helm shall be provided • Throttle controls shall be electronic, • Steering controls • Engine Gauges & displays 03 – Electrical A typical small 12V DC electrical system shall be installed providing sufficient power to all equipment.
