• Pre-Cleaning Walk-Through- The City’s project manager and the assigned contractor’s project representative will complete a thorough Walk Through of each building to identify stained or damaged carpet in need of special attention. Such areas will be located, photographed, and the approach for cleaning discussed prior to the start of cleaning services. The Contractor shall notify the city’s project manager of any stains anticipated as being difficult to remove. If a stain cannot be removed, the contractor will document the stain in a written report provided to the city’s project manager including a picture of the area, postcleaning effort. • Spot Cleaning/Stain Treatment- Carpets shall be spot cleaned as necessary to address spills, spots, stains, etc. Only cleaning agents which do not cause fading or discoloration of the carpet may be used to treat stains. Careful attention shall be paid to avoid damaging carpet fibers. • Carpet Cleaning - Carpets shall be cleaned to present a uniformly clean appearance, reasonably free from spots, stains, spill, etc. Any tears, rips, burns, or indelible stains shall be reported prior to cleaning. (See Facilities and Methods of Cleaning section below for preferred cleaning methods.) • Extraction- Careful attention must be taken to remove all cleaning agents (liquid or dry) and extract as much moisture as possible the carpet while performing this work. • Post-Cleaning Walk Through-The City’s project manager will inspect cleaning work 24-48 hours post-cleaning, giving particular attention to areas identified in the Pre-Cleaning Walk Through. The project manager will follow up with the contractor for any necessary corrective action. All remedial action must be satisfactorily resolved by the contractor before payment for services will be authorized.
