The proposed resurfacing project is located on Erwin Plegge Blvd. from Old Bethalto Road to South Prairie Street in Bethalto, Illinois. The project length is 5,920 feet (1.121 miles). The work on this project consists of milling and resurfacing 2” of HMA pavement along Erwin Plegge Blvd. The project will consist of milling, patching, HMA pavement surfacing, pavement marking, ADA curb ramps, concrete curb and gutter replacement, traffic island replacement and all incidental and collateral work necessary to complete the work in the above-described Section according to the plans, specifications and special provisions. SEQUENCE OF CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS During construction, the Contractor will be required to maintain access to all properties affected by this work. The Contractor will not be allowed to begin subsequent construction operations until the preceding work is substantially complete. The construction sequence shall be compressed as much as possible to minimize the inconvenience to local traffic. Unless authorized by the Engineer, the Contractor shall complete the construction in the following suggested sequence: 1. Establish traffic control measures. 2. Complete pavement patching. 3. Construct ADA curb ramps and traffic island 4. Mill existing HMA surface. 5. Construct HMA surface course. 6. Complete pavement markings, and clean-up. Stage 5 must be completed within 10 calendar days of the completion of Stage 4. The Contractor may submit an alternate sequence of operations and traffic control plan that would expedite construction and still maintain traffic control. Any and all changes to these plans must be submitted in writing and approved in advance by the Engineer. No additional compensation will be allowed if alternate plans are approved.
