The Scope of Work for this project is to maintain City of Albany owned trees along city streets, right-of-ways, easements, and city-owned property in accordance with the specifications contained in this bid documents, as well as any subsequent addenda. The majority of the work will include pruning, canopy-raising, clearing of streetlights, street signs, traffic-control lights, sidewalks, along with removal of dead wood, stubs, trees and underbrush. Canopy road clearance must meet a minimum height of seventeen (17) feet over the road and circumference. Smaller trees may be slope-pruned over the road down to a clearance that does not exceed the 1/3 rule of trimming or a minimum of eight (8) feet. Limbs over houses must be raised to ten (10) foot clearance over the roof and an extra six (6) if around chimneys. No limbs eight (8) inches or greater in diameter are to be removed without approval. Road signs, traffic lights, and streetlights must be cleared. Required sight distance for road signs is 50 feet from sign. Traffic lights require a minimum sight distance of 500 feet. Limbs or brush on traffic control light support arms or lines must be cleared. Streetlights require clearances of a 10-foot circumference to the ground and 6 feet above the top of the streetlight head. Sidewalks and right-of-way clearances outside of roadways are to be pruned to a minimum height of fourteen (14) feet. Dead or damaged limbs must be pruned down to within a one (1) inch diameter. Private trees hanging in a canopy over the right-of-way must be raised to meet required standards listed above. Pruning should not exceed the 1/3 rule of trimming unless approved. All pruning cuts must be painted with approved chemicals. Trees may only be removed after authorization by an approved arborist.
