TOW TRUCKS/EQUIPMENT A. The Contractor shall maintain and have accessible for use and Township inspection, tow trucks and equipment capable of recovering and removing any vehicle that is customarily and routinely found on the roadways within this Township. B. Contractor’s tow trucks must be in compliance with all safety equipment requirements as listed in N.J.S.A. 39:3-43 et seq. including emergency lights, equipment, reflectors/flares and permits. Each tow truck shall have Contractor’s name displayed in such manner and of such lettering as conforms to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 39:4-46. C. An inventory of tow trucks shall include, but not be limited to, the listed quantity of vehicles designated for each category, which are designed, built, and rated to meet the Tow Truck Class Specification that have been developed and published by the Towing and Recovery Association of America (T.R.A.A.), and which are described hereafter. Each truck will only count towards the category in which it is approved for. In other words a heavy duty tow truck may not be counted as both a heavy duty and a medium duty tow truck. 8 NOTE: It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to certify that their trucks meet the safe lifting ratings specified for each class of tow truck. Prior to the award of contract, the Contractor will allow representatives of the Township to physically inspect Contractor’s tow trucks and facility for compliance with these specifications. The Township of Cherry Hill Chief of Police or his designee will provide the contractor with 24 hours’ notice prior to any inspection. EQUIPMENT SHALL INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: LIGHT DUTY TOW TRUCK - MINIMUM RATINGS - (Quantity: 2) All light duty tow trucks must meet the following minimum standards: Capable of towing vehicles as listed by the TRAA and DOT as class I and II which include passenger vehicles, light trucks, minivans, full size pickups, sport utility vehicles and full size vans. These vehicles should not exceed 10,000lbs GVWR and not have more than 4 tires 1) Gross Vehicle Weight Ratings 14,000 lbs 2) Boom Capacity (minimum) 8 tons 3) Cable Size and Length 3/8” X 100’ 4) Safety Chains (2each) 3/8” HIGH TEST NOTE:Flatbed car carriers may not be included in this category (see Car Carrier category). At the time of inspection, each vehicle in this category shall meet the minimum specification set forth above for all factory installed equipment. All additional required equipment set forth above shall be verified prior to the award of a contract.
