TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS • Completely remove two (2) old boardwalks which are approximately 2,300 linear feet in length. The boardwalk must be built in a manner that allows for general human foot traffic use. The boardwalk will not be supporting any other use but foot traffic (no equipment). All material must be hauled off and disposed of by the Contractor. • The Contractor shall install approximately 2,300 linear feet of new boardwalk in footprint of removed walkway. o Boardwalk will be constructed of 4”x6”x10’ pressure treated marine grade posts (PTMG) installed every 8’, installed 3’ in ground with 2”x6” PTMG joists throughout boardwalk for composite material decking. o All lumber for the boardwalk must be pressure treated for above ground use. All 4”x6”x10’ posts must be Marine Grade pressure treated wood. o 2”x6” PTMG joists shall be placed in four (4) locations (two (2) joists on outside of 4”x6” posts on both sides of boardwalk as a band board and two (2) joists running parallel to band boards installed equidistant between band boards and run the length of the boardwalk to support composite walkway planking. o Two 2”x6”x5’ PTMG cross supports shall be installed on each 4”x6” post perpendicular to boardwalk walkway to support joists that run the length of the boardwalk (see diagram). o 1”x6”x5’ Composite walkway planks shall be installed on top of 2”x6” joists. o Overall general decking height shall be at 36” above ground throughout boardwalk, where possible. o Boardwalk should never be less than 18” above ground level (except at beginning/end). o Overall boardwalk deck width shall be 5’ (60”). Boardwalk shall remain level throughout.
