Zone 1: The project area in Zone 1 is approximately 326.6 acres (Appendix II). In this zone, all Florida Invasive Species Council (FISC) Category 1 invasive plants must be treated. The invasive plants are scattered throughout the project area, with an estimated coverage ranging from less than one percent (1%) up to 14%. Invasive species known to occur in the project area include cogongrass, Caesar’s weed, natalgrass, sword fern, tropical soda apple, camphor-tree, and Chinese tallow-tree. The contractor must cover the entire treatment zone. Zone 2: The project area in Zone 2 is approximately 30.3 acres (Appendix III). Cogongrass is the only invasive species required to be treated in this zone. The estimated coverage of cogongrass ranges up to 30%. The contractor must cover the entire treatment zone. Zone 1 and 2 project areas will be identified by roads, forest boundaries, natural boundaries, timber marking paint, flagging tape, and/or GPS/GIS files. Treatment areas and boundaries will be reviewed with the contractor prior to starting work on this project, and GIS files (ESRI shapefiles) will be provided upon the request of the contractor.
