The scope includes both preliminary and final design for the roadway improvements. Non-eligible water and sanitary sewer utility improvements within the Village of Ridgeway will be handled by the Village’s Engineer, there will be requirements for coordination of potential concurrent project work. Existing alignment consists of non-tangent horizontal curves and angle points, along with vertical discrepancy challenges with neighboring parcels and buildings. Side road intersection improvements are anticipated. Sub-standard subgrade soils and / or existing previous pavement materials substructure contribute to the deterioration of the route and pavement issues. Trans 75 bicycle, pedestrian, ATV/UTV, and Vehicular parking accommodations will also be a part of the improvement considerations. The Military Ridge Bike Route Rails to Trails corridor parallels the project limits for its’ entirety. Real estate acquisition is anticipated in the urban portion. Real estate and right of way constraints are anticipated within the village portion perhaps requiring incorporating innovative engineering solutions, community sensitive designs, and urban beautification concepts. The project will involve coordination with pertinent state and federal agencies, as well as Iowa County officials, local municipalities, utility relocation involvement, and a public community revitalization involvement process.
