This project includes the MiSeq i100 Plus Series System, the Silver Support Plan, MiSeq i100 Installation and System Training at Customer Site and any reagents/accessories needed during the five year life of the project to include all specification delineated in the attached quote. The MiSeq i100 Plus System is the newest model and likely the replacement for the existing MiSeq units brought onboard as part of the state labs routine testing. MiSeqs are required for the following programs: HMAS, ISC, WW CoE, PulseNet, and Clinical Surveillance. If these original units are sunsetted as planned, this requested i100 Series will need to be rapidly deployed to prevent lapses in verified testing. As an early adopter of the new unit while still maintaining the old unit gives the lab a robust advantage in capacity, comparability data and verification support of other labs who eventually also be required by CDC and other testing requirements to procure the i100. It is for this reason we are seeking to maintain both MiSeq versions at the same time. Notably, the original MiSeq and the i100 have the same single source technical specifications, which includes short read chemistry, in a benchtop sequencer. However, the i100 series is fluidics free and has hardware akin to and aligned with the proprietary NextSeq unit, all by Illumina. This proprietary fluidics free upgrade in the i100 model lowers the risk of testing down time and sample reruns. It is also a hardware feature that is proprietary to illumina its specific model units. Illumina is also the only sequencer on the market that is compatible with the XLEAP chemistry, which provides the depth and clarity of data required to meet the minimum QA/QC measures for sequencing of both clinical and wastewater matrices.
