1. The Contractor’s responsibilities shall begin at the time of pick-up by Contractor and shall terminate upon delivery to the specified sites. 2. Contractor shall be obliged to receive only items that are properly sealed, secured, fastened, and labeled. 3. Contractor shall furnish polite, safe, expeditious, and effective service at all times, insuring that messengers are trained in taking safety precautions when lifting and carrying transport pouches, bags, and containers. 4. Contractor shall insure that messengers have valid, current driver’s licenses with clean driving records. Messengers will drive safely and abide by all laws, rules, and regulations. 5. Contractor shall insure that all vehicles used are mechanically sound and safe to drive. The vehicle must be able to safely support the weight of pouches, bags, and containers. The vehicle(s) must also have current car registration, safety check, and insurance certificates. 6. Contractor is only obliged to pick-up and drop-off (delivery/exchange) items to designated locations in accordance with the approved messenger service schedules. 7. It shall be the Contractor’s responsibility to ensure that pouches, bags, containers, boxes, cartons, etc., are not lost, stolen, destroyed, or damaged in transit. Contractor shall agree to pay the State the sum of $200.00 for each and every pouch, bag, container, etc., that has been lost, stolen, destroyed, or damaged while in Contractor’s custody.
