1. Furnish all labor, material, and equipment to perform all work required to a complete sod package in strict accordance with the contract documents, current codes and all Authorities Having Jurisdiction. It is the intent of the contract documents and this bid package that this contractor provides a complete sod package that is complete and includes all items and appurtenances necessary, reasonably incidental or customarily included even though each and every item is not specifically called out or shown. 2. Furnish all labor material and equipment to perform all work required to install the sodding in strict accordance with the Construction Documents for all the disturbed areas shown on the attached drawing. 3. Furnish and install Bermuda sod for all disturbed areas of construction. Installer must provide certificates indicating that the sod provided is truly Bermuda. 4. Sod shall not be harvested or transplanted with its moisture content such that it may adversely affect its survival (excessively dry or wet). 5. Before harvesting, the sod shall be mowed uniformly at a height of 1 to 2.5 inches. 6. Unless a suitable preservation method is approved prior to delivery, sod shall be harvested, delivered, and installed within a period of 24 hours. Sod not installed within this period shall be inspected and approved by the Construction Manager prior to installation. 7. Sod shall be delivered to the site and off-loaded using equipment furnished by this contractor. Palletized or large-roll sod shall be off-loaded at the site and locations on the site for the purpose of installation in coordination with Construction Manager. 8. Provide minimal hand raking of the topsoil prior to the installation of the sod to ensure a smooth sub-grade. 9. Starter Strip – The first row of sod shall be laid in a straight line, with subsequent rows placed parallel to and tightly against each other. Lateral joints shall be staggered to promote more uniform growth and strength. Care shall be exercised to ensure that the pieces are not stretched or overlapped and that all joints are butted tightly to prevent voids that would cause air-drying of the roots. 10. Sloping Surfaces – On 3:1 or greater slopes, palletized sod shall be laid across the angle of the slope (perpendicular) with staggered joints and secured by tampering, pegging, stapling or other approved methods of temporarily securing each piece. Large-roll sod shall be laid in the direction of the slope, with temporary securing being at the discretion of this contractor. 11. This contractor shall water the sod immediately after installation to prevent excessive drying during the progress of work. As sodding is completed in any one section, the entire area shall be lightly rolled. It shall then be thoroughly watered to a depth sufficient that the underside of the new sod pad and soil immediately below the pad are thoroughly wet. 12. Sodding contractor to include a 10% allowance for sodding to cover additional disturbed areas beyond these limits. If this 10% allowance is not used then the Construction Manager will request a deductive change order from the sodding the contractor. Reference sheet C726 for the limits of the solid slab sodding. 13. Sodding contractor to include a total of three (3) mobilizations/demobilizations for this scope of work. 14. Sodding contractor to include a temporary watering of the sod until the sod has been established/or rooted. 15. Sodding contractor will need to secure a temporary flushmeter from the City of Stillwater for the watering of the sod, which the sodding contractor will need to pay rent or usage fees for the temporary flushmeter. The cost of the water or usage fees for the water will be paid by the City of Stillwater. 16. Sodding contractor shall clean sidewalk and streets from equipment tire marks, sod rolls, trash, dirt and grass as a result of the installation of the sod. 17. All equipment and trucks will be within the building footprint and will enter and exit from Airport Road. No employees, equipment, vehicles, or trucks will be allowed on the plan north side of the temporary fencing or secure side of the airport. 18. Provide necessary means and methods to prevent debris from getting airborne and blowing onto the airport apron and runways.
