The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking to engage a consultant to facilitate the development of an inspiring and achievable strategic vision and strategic guidance document to focus and advance the University’s research enterprise in the next several years. The consultant will work with a Steering Team comprised of senior leaders of the Office of Research who will oversee the planning process. The Steering Team and the consultant will begin by identifying participants for interviews and focus groups and selecting members for a Core Planning Team representing key stakeholder groups who together will develop the strategic guidance document. Critical steps in this engagement include: • information-gathering, including review of relevant documents and materials, as well as one-on-one interviews and group sessions with key internal and external stakeholders • analyzing the key trends and themes in our current external/operating environment, and in our organization as it operates in the environment • developing a winning vision, mission, goals, strategies, and tactics for the next several years • preparing a final written strategic guidance document
