PLASTIC PIPE LINER, CORRUGATED POLYETHYLENE PIPE, AND POLYPROPYLENE All pipe liners, corrugated high density polyethylene pipe (HDPE) and corrugated polypropylene pipe (PP), shall meet the requirements as specified in the St. Charles County Standard Specifications for Arterial Highway Construction, 2020 Edition. Heavy gauge pipe liners will be used for lining corrugated and concrete pipe 12" - 60" Dual Wall and Triple Wall Polypropylene Gravity Sewer Pipe Dual wall pipe and fittings 12 inch through 24-inch diameter pipe shall conform to ASTM F2736 and triple wall pipe 30 inch through 60-inch shall conform to ASTM F2764, except as otherwise specified herein. Dual wall polypropylene pipe shall have a smooth interior and annular exterior corrugations. Triple wall polypropylene pipe shall have a smooth interior and exterior with annular inner corrugations. Pipe shall have a minimum pipe stiffness of 46 pii when tested in accordance with ASTM D2412. Pipe shall be joined with an integral bell and spigot joint on all sizes. The joints shall be watertight in accordance with ASTM D3212. The spigot shall have two gaskets meeting the requirements of ASTM F477. The gaskets shall be installed by the pipe manufacturer and shall be covered with a removable, protective wrap to ensure the gaskets are free from debris. Pipe shall have a reinforced bell with a polymer composite band installed by the manufacturer. A joint lubricant shall be used on the gasket and pipe bell during assembly. Steel Reinforce Polyethylene Pipe (SRPE) Steel reinforced polyethylene pipe with a smooth waterway wall and exterior profile that is reinforced with high strength galvanized steel ribs. The continuous reinforcing ribs are completely encased within the polyethylene profile. The pipe is manufactured using a helical winding process that results in a continuously fusion welded lap seam. The pipe profile is manufactured using highquality stress-rated thermoplastic meeting the requirements of ASTM F2562 “Standard Specification for Steel Reinforced Thermoplastic Ribbed Pipe and Fittings for Non-Pressure Drainage and Sewerage” or AASHTO Designation M335 and MP-40. High Performance (HP) Joints (30” – 72”) shall be gasketed, bell and spigot joints where both the bell and spigot are reinforced with steel that is fully encased in stress-rated high density polyethylene (meeting the requirements set forth in the above Material Properties paragraph) and that have been laboratory tested to 10.8 psi in accordance with ASTM D3212 “Standard Specification for Joints for Drain and Sewer Plastic Pipes Using Flexible Elastomeric Seals” (see Standard Drawing 1012804). Soil Tight Joints (84” – 120””) shall be plain ended pipe with Polymeric coated Type 2 CMP coupling bands and elastomeric gaskets.x The bid may be awarded to the lowest bidder for each size of liner or pipe submitted, which would mean that there could be multiple awards for each type of material.
