The Lawrence Police Department (LPD) is dedicated to improving public safety and providing compassionate, adequate support to community members experiencing mental health crises. As part of its ongoing efforts, LPD seeks proposals from qualified organizations, including individuals, sole proprietors, LLCs, nonprofits, and forprofit entities, to request funding through the Emergency Assistance Program Services (EAPS). The primary goal of the LAPD’s Behavioral Health Unit is to reduce arrests and improve outcomes for individuals in crisis by connecting them with appropriate mental health resources and providing follow-up services. This initiative focuses on diverting individuals from the criminal justice system and ensuring they receive timely, professional support to address their behavioral health needs.
