The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This sale is 185 acres in size and consists of a combination of a 46-acre clear cut of planted sand pine and 139 acres of marked first thinning of planted slash pine from Lake George State Forest in Volusia County, Florida (see attached maps). Timber to be removed from the clearcut area includes all sand pine trees within the designated boundaries. Timber to be harvested from the thinning area includes all trees in the blue painted rows and any trees marked with orange paint. The blue painted trees designate where the takeout rows will be established. Boundary trees marked with white paint are not to be harvested. Logging decks and skid trails must be approved by the Forester-in-Charge. There is an active bald eagle nest outside of the sale area (see attached maps). No harvesting may occur within 330 feet of the nest. No harvesting may occur within 660 feet of the next during breeding season (October 1st - May 15th). Sale boundaries are roads, state forest boundaries, wetlands, red painted lines, or obvious timber type changes. The estimated volume to be removed is 4,318 tons of pine pulpwood and 1,729 tons of pine chip and saw and better
