a. Program Requirements: The Hospitality and Tourism Management Career and Technical Education Program has been designed to introduce 9-12 grade students to all aspects of the tourism and hospitality Industry. The Contractor shall: i. Provide a curriculum to meet the requirements of Utah Code 53E-3-515. ii. Ensure the curriculum can be delivered in a public school using live instruction, and/or video, and/or online materials. iii. Ensure all curriculums will be deliverable through Canvas Instructure LMS statewide. iv. Ensure the curriculum is ready and available for classroom use at the effective date of the contract. v. Ensure the curriculum can be customized to meet the needs of the individual LEA or school. vi. Ensure the curriculum can be easily kept up to date and relevant to industry needs and current USBE Strands and Standards. vii. Ensure the curriculum can be integrated with the Canvas LMS. viii. Be responsible for all training and onboarding of teachers bi-annually before both the fall and spring semesters. ix. Be responsible for the promotion and recruitment of new and continuous LEAs to use the curriculum. The Contractor shall detail a promotional plan for each year. x. Work with USBE to implement the annual application and feedback process. xi. Ensure invoicing will be done on a consistent and frequent basis which consists of an allinclusive amount. xii. Provide data and details from the feedback surveys and applications to the USBE annually for legislative reporting. b. Expectations: Students in the Hospitality and Tourism Management Career and Technical Education Program should be able to: i. Display an understanding of the production, implementation, and impacts of tourism development locally, nationally, and internationally ii. Demonstrate cultural and environmental sensitivity through an appreciation for various forms of diversity in our worlds iii. Understand basic back-end tactical operations within tourism sectors. iv. Write clearly and concisely in the conventions of tourism studies. v. Exhibit effective oral communication through personal interaction as well as classroom presentations, individually or as part of a group, to a larger audience vi. Demonstrate critical & creative thinking and analytical skills through writing and verbal assessments vii. Possess skills and experience relating to the management and production of tourism in a professional setting. c. Goals and Objectives: i. Increase the number of LEAs and/or students participating in the Hospitality & Tourism Grant program yearly. Note: The number of students shall be reported annually. ii. Ensure students understand the broader scope of the tourism economy while placing an additional emphasis on localized/Utah content. iii. Cultivate Utah’s next-generation workforce through all curriculum tactics and projects. iv. Provide consistent technical and professional development support for educators as they use the curriculum they provide. v. Provide networking opportunities for students to higher education Hospitality & Tourism degrees, internships, and career opportunities. vi. Increase participation in Hospitality & Tourism related competitions provided through Utah Career and Technical Student Organizations (DECA and FBLA) participation.
